BONNIE DOYLE - Soprano

Bonnie has a Music degree from Southern Oregon University, has performed with and arranged/written music for Ro Sham Bo, has performed with Albino Afro Beat and No Origin, and produces and directs Acapplaya and SangBang. Bonnie is single and living the dream in San Francisco, California where she owns a database design consultancy.

AUDREY CYPRUS KAUFFMAN - Soprano II

Audrey sings second soprano for Ro Sham Bo and is a founding member of the group. Born and raised in Houston, TX, Audrey escaped to New York for college and then moved to Japan for five years before settling in the Bay Area.  Her love of a cappella music started when she was one of only three freshman accepted into Vassar College’s Measure for Measure. She has sung everything from musical comedy leading roles to R&B to classical to country western to pop.  She is married with two teenagers and works full-time as the chief information officer for a company specializing in medical malpractice insurance. What does she like most about Ro Sham Bo?  Tight harmonies, crunchy chords, talented musicians and superb arrangements combined with lots of wine and cheese at rehearsals.

PHOEBE ROSQUIST - Alto

Phoebe Jevtović Rosquist’s singing spans repertoire from the medieval to the contemporary. She was born in Germany and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. Phoebe began her undergraduate studies at the University of Louisville with the intention of becoming a jazz singer, but got carried away with early music for the next decade or two. In that time, she performed with the Waverly Consort, Voices of Music, American Bach Soloists, Philharmonia Baroque, Musica Angelica, Bach Collegium San Diego, Cappella Artemisia, Rose Ensemble, and North Holland Opera. Phoebe completed her Master of Arts degree in Early Music Performance at the University of Southern California, and has edited a book of 17th century solo songs by Tarquinio Merula published by A-R Editions.

Phoebe’s non-classical projects have included touring the US and Indonesia with Gamelan X (a Balinese/hybrid world music ensemble in which she sang and played percussion), and singing Balkan & folk music with Kitka and VOCO. Phoebe can be heard on a diverse collection of albums recorded on the Naxos, Nonesuch, Delos, Dorian, Decca, and Sony labels. Highlights include singing in studio sessions at the iconic Capitol Records in LA, and at Skywalker Ranch in Lucas Valley.

She happily rediscovered her love of vocal jazz when a friend encouraged her to audition for Accapplaya, the brainchild of fellow Ro Sham Bo member Bonnie Doyle.

Also a choral conductor, she has been an assistant director of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, directed a Gregorian chant choir in Newport Beach, coached music for several Shakespeare plays, directed the Art Monastery Coro in the U.S. and Italy, and currently co-directs the Women's Antique Vocal Ensemble (WAVE) in Berkeley.

ROBERT LEE - Tenor

Robert’s musical journey started at the age of 5 in school choirs in Hong Kong where he was born and raised. His involvement was steady and would grow overtime throughout middle and high school, where he joined several vocal and jazz ensembles and founded a few a cappella groups of various styles among friends. In college, Robert directed The Jabberwocks of Brown University as a sophomore. He led the group in representing North America at the Hong Kong International A Cappella Festival and received multiple Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award nominations for his arrangements. He also participated in the school’s jazz program, singing in jazz combos and serving as the principal vocalist for the university’s Jazz Band.

Beyond Ro Sham Bo, Robert sings in Internote, a contemporary a cappella group from the Techapella scene. And after a few years working in business and operations, he is currently working towards becoming a voice teacher.

MICHAEL ENG HOE KHOR - Baritone

Michael’s major influences in music include swing, contemporary jazz, and indie electronic singer-producers. While he usually sticks to his baritone range, Michael is also a vocal percussionist and makes multitrack and loop machine recordings.

In Malaysia where he grew up, he directed the INTI International College choir. Michael was later part of a University of Wisconsin - Madison a cappella group, Fundamentally Sound. There he won Best Arrangement at an International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) competition and was nominated for Best Electronic / Experimental Arrangement for the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards (CARA).

Since moving to the Bay Area, Michael's a cappella adventures have continued in various groups including Ro Sham Bo, Pitch Please, Lullabies & Honey, and The A Cappella Collective. He strives to create boundary-pushing a cappella arrangements for these groups and beyond.

RICK WOOD - Bass

Rick migrated from San Diego to the Bay Area to attend UC Berkeley. Five (arguably misspent) years later he barely had enough credits to graduate with a Cognitive Neuroscience degree, but had managed in that time to rack up two years in University Chorus, one year in Chamber Chorus, two years with the UC Men's Octet, as well as a single show with the SF Opera (North America's premiere of St. Francois d'Assise).

Post-graduation, Rick has sung a cappella with The Richter Scales, barbershop with Bari and the Three Bears, classical with the SF Pocket Opera (Macbeth), and sexy with the Rocky Horror Show (Pinole Playhouse).  He is thrilled to now be singing jazzly with Ro Sham Bo.
